How does it work?

It is super simple, if you have a tech issue, just post it on and we’ll send the job to our local community of trusted techsperts.

If they are available and able to do the job, they’ll put up their quote. All you have to do is sit back, relax, let the quotes come in and choose from one of the many great local Techsperts who respond to your job.

What kind of tech repair jobs can I post?

Our community of Techsperts is always growing both in size and skills, so we pride ourselves on providing tech installations and repairs across a number of different technologies, from phones to smart home devices and everything in between, hardware or software.

Our techsperts come from different backgrounds with different skills, so we will make sure to match you with the right person regardless of how acute the problem may be.

What is a Techspert?

A Techspert is a self-proclaimed tech guru, whether they work at the Apple Genius bar by day and then come to your home to fix your iPad in the evening on the way home, or someone who just loves technology and knows how to fix or install the latest gadgets, we allow our tech specialists to sign-up and select their chosen fields of specialism.

Are Techsperts vetted?

We do vet our techsperts and we empower the community of customers to review all of our techsperts too, so you get full visibility on the quality of our techspert community.

How much does it cost to post a job?

Posting a job is completely free.

How much do tech fixes cost?

It really all depends on what the tech issue is, but our bidding system allows multiple techsperts to quote for a single job, making sure the price you get is always fair and accurate.

What if the Techspert causes more damage to my technology, or I am unhappy?

The way that the Nerdbox payment works is that we only transfer payments to the Techspert when you, the Customer, acknowledges the job is complete and you are satisfied with it. If there are any issues, we’ll step in as a mediator to review both sides of the job and make an unbiased decision, which may involve a partial or full refund to you.

We hope that such instances are rare and we will deal with them on a case by case basis.

How do I pay and secure my booking?

Before you go ahead and book one of our trusted local techsperts, you will have ample opportunity to chat, ask questions and agree the time and place via your dashboard.

Once you've agreed a date, time and location (whether it is at the office, home, or your favourite cafe), you need to click on 'accept offer and pay' on your dashboard.

You will then be taken to our secure payment page where Nerdbox will hold the payment in full until you confirm that the job has been completed to your satisfaction.

Do you have money back guarantee?

Not happy with the outcome? Remember, we have our amazing Money Back Guarantee, which means we only release your payment once you are satisfied that the job has been completed. We will also need to verify this with the Techspert to make sure that the job was carried out in the fairest possible manner. But please ensure that all correspondance and payments to Techsperts are made here via your secure jobs dashboard. This is to ensure Nerdbox can mitiagte any potential disputes, provide a secure interactive enviroment and control any refunds/warranty claims that may become due.

Payments made outside of Nerdbox are strongly not permitted for your own security, as you could become a victim of fraud. All payments made through Nerdbox are fully secure and encrypted via our payment partners Stripe. Any payments made away from Nerdbox would be a violation of our terms and conditions, and thus we would immediately remove your account from our platform.

Can I review the Customer/Techspert?

Absolutely, we will send all members a review function after every job to ensure both parties are reviewed accurately.

What if I disagree with the review?

Please write to and we will discuss and mediate with both sides to ensure only accurate and honest reviews are posted.


What do I need to do to become a Techspert?

If you think you have what it takes to be a local tech superhero, all you need to do is sign-up here: - and fill in a very simple form.

How much does it cost to become a Techspert?

Nothing! It is completely free.

What information do you need from me for me to become a Techspert?

All you need to do is provide bio, name, image, contact details, how far you are willing to travel and what kind of tech you specialise in.

What qualifications do I need to become a Techspert?

There are no regulatory bodies in the UK that qualify people who are amazing at fixing technology, so it is up to you to be honest with yourself and the local community as to how skilled you are, as all of our Techsperts are self-proclaimed specialists and will be reviewed by the local community.

How often will I receive new jobs coming in?

Whilst we can never promise nor predict the level of jobs coming in, our job posts are very frequent so you wouldn’t have to wait long for the opportunity to earn a significant primary or secondary income in your local area.

How do I get paid?

Our payment system ensures payment protection for Techsperts and Customers by providing a seamless, secure way to get local tasks completed.

The steps below outline the payment flow under this system:

  1. A job is posted
  2. The Customer receives offers from Techsperts who want to complete the task;
  3. When the Customer accepts an offer, payment is taken from the Customer’s card and held securely in an escrow account while the task is being completed;
  4. The Techspert completes the task, and the Customer confirms this to Nerdbox via the dashboard;
  5. We release the payment and the Techspert receives it in their nominated account within 7 business days (depending on your bank).

With Nerdbox, both Customers and Techsperts can be confident that the money has been committed to the job, and that payment will only be released when the Customer acknowledges the task to be completed.

What if I fix the technology to the best of my ability but the Customer isn’t happy and doesn’t want to pay?

The way that the Nerdbox payment works is that we only transfer payments to the Techspert when the Customer acknowledges the job is complete and is satisfied with it. If there are any issues, we’ll step in as a mediator to review both sides of the job and make an unbiased decision. If we believe the technology was fixed to an adequate level, we will release the payment into your nominated account. However, if this is not the case, we will come to a decision that may involve a full or partial refund. We hope that such instances are rare and we will deal with them on a case by case basis.

What is the Nerdbox fee?

Whilst it is free for Techsperts to upload a profile, bid for jobs and earn money, Nerdbox takes 20% of every transaction that gets transferred into the Techspert account, so we advise that this fee is factored into any quote you may provide for a job.

Changes and Cancellations

What if I need to increase the price?

Realised there’s more to be done or the task is more complicated than initially thought? Not to worry, increasing the task price is simple. Once an offer has been accepted, the Techspert can increase the task price on the dashboard.

What if I don’t agree with the new price increase for a job?

Not a problem, just let us know at and we will close down the job and re-open it for the Techspert to re-bid.

What if I need to change the location and time of my job?

We know that life isn’t always straight forward, so if at any time you need to change the time or location of a job, please liaise with each other on the member dashboard, via the communication channel.

What if I need to cancel my job?

Easy, all you need to do it let us know at and we’ll sort it for you. You need to allow 24 hours notice for us to close down the task. Upon closing the task, we will issue a full refund back into your nominated account. Unfortunately jobs that don’t provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellation will be subject to a full charge.


What if one member abuses the rights or property of another member?

Our policies around abusing members are clear, we will not tolerate it. Any members who abuse our community will be permanently erased and banned from the platform.

How do I ensure appropriate safeguarding?

We take your safety extremely seriously at Nerdbox. We’re passionate about building a trusted community of members, while helping to create positive experiences for our customers using Nerdbox to fix your technology.

It’s important to remember that you are transacting with another member of the Nerdbox community and as both a Customer and a Techspert, you are upholding the good reputation of Nerdbox.

If you ever feel uncomfortable with another member at any time, you should email with your concerns. All matters will be taken seriously and handled with confidentiality. If at any time you feel in danger, call your local emergency line.

One of the great benefits of Nerdbox is that we enable Techsperts to meet with Customers at a time and location of their choice, often in their homes or places of work. To ensure your safety, we recommend the following steps:

  • Refer back to the image of the Techspert upon meeting and if no image is available, please confirm the name before allowing work to be undertaken;
  • Don’t be shy to ask a member of the Nerdbox community for a proof of identification prior to commencing the job;
  • As appropriate, stay with the Techspert as the technology is being repaired;
  • Do not hand over any sensitive personal information (pin number, credit card details etc.);
  • If either party is acting in a manner that is perceived as dangerous or suspicious, call your local emergency line
